For the person looking for a “middle of the road” type of phone I would rate the Msgm8 as a 7 (on a scale from 1-10). I am using Cricket wireless and it works just fine (previously using the Motorola Evoke which was a total waste of money). The Msgm8 has all of the basic features & functions, text, email and web but it is not a smartphone. I think it is a nice phone to text with as I feel the keyboard is rather easy to use (for a small phone the keyboard is not too crowded). This phone has a “Blackberry” sort of feel. The web uses “brew” which it “gets the job done” going from site to site and although its 3G I would consider its speed as “average”. Using Cricket requires an additional 5 dollar per month fee to use the email features, I am accessing 5 yahoo/Gmail accounts and they all work just fine.
Pros:
1. Lightweight/Small size (sometimes I forget its in my pocket).
2. Easy to use for texting.
3. Gps works really nice.(cricket navigator).
4. Good battery life.
5. Good reception using Cricket Wireless (I am covering a 40 mile radius in the Chicago-land area near daily).
6. I have had this phone app. 3 weeks and with heavy usage it does not “freeze-up’ or require resetting.
_______________
Cons:
1. Im not impressed with the 1.3 MP camera at all. (also no video)
2. Low ringer volume.
3. No storage, the text inbox will only hold 100 messages before you must delete to make room for new messages.
4. Contacts will only hold 1 email address per entry (most people I know have multiple email addresses).
Would I recommend this phone? Yes
I actually just got it today; my mom ordered it for my birthday. It’s charging right now, but I have yet to try it out! As far as just the look, it seems alright, average. To me the screen is too small, and the phone itself is rather small but I dunno =l it seems like a good texting phone?
